During its speech, the association expressed its appreciation for the positive steps that it had witnessed in the recent period of allowing some civil society organizations to visit prisons, and we hope that more accessible mechanisms will be put in place for requests for visits from civil society. The association also requested the participation of Egyptian civil society in preparing and issuing the executive regulations for the labor law. The meetings also dealt with a proposal from the National Assembly and Al-Haq Foundation regarding the mechanism for developing the universal periodic review system, after the association’s delegation touched it on the political use by some countries of the universal periodic review mechanism, in addition to what we have noticed about the incompatibility of recommendations made to countries with a situation Human rights in that country, which means that there are clear deficiencies in the system of periodic review work and recommendations issued by member states.
