Participate in the activities of the session “Promotion and Protection of Civil and Political Human Rights”
Within the activities of the 43rd session of the Human Rights Council.
The delegation of the National Society for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms is participating, in partnership with the Al-Haq Foundation for Freedom of Opinion and Expression, in the activities of the session “Promoting and protecting human and political rights and the right to development, as part of the work of the 43rd session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.” It is nine o’clock in the morning, Monday 9 March 2020 AD, and it ends at 1 pm.
The activities of that session will take place with the participation of the special rapporteurs of the commission, representatives of states and national councils, in addition to representatives of civil society organizations that have an advisory capacity in the United Nations.
Today is also witnessing many important events and sessions, perhaps the most prominent of which is the general discussion session on what human rights cases require special attention from the Council, where the report of the Human Rights Commission in Southern Sudan is discussed.
The report of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran will also be discussed, provided that the activities of the day will be concluded with the oral notice of the investigation committee on Burundi.
Mr. Walid Farouk, President of the National Assembly for Defending Rights and Freedoms, stated that the association’s mission arrived in Geneva, Switzerland, on the evening of Sunday, March 8, that the mission will participate in many activities at the United Nations headquarters, provided that the mission concludes its work on March 14, 2020.
Farouk added that the mission will work on issuing a daily press release to cover the activities of the council’s sessions, as well as all the mission’s participation and activities.
