A Human Rights Message to the Leaders and Heads of State Gathering at the Arab-Islamic Summit – Doha

The National Society for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms is following with great concern the convening of the emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha, in light of the dangerous developments affecting human rights, state sovereignty, and regional security and stability.
While the Society affirms that the recent Israeli military attacks constitute a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and a blatant breach of the UN Charter and the principles of national sovereignty, it addresses the following human rights demands to Arab and Muslim leaders and heads of state:
1. Condemn the Israeli aggression in clear and explicit terms, considering it a war crime and a grave violation of international humanitarian law, requiring immediate legal accountability.
2. Support the Egyptian initiative and its humanitarian ceasefire efforts, while ensuring the continued flow of food, medicine, and urgent humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.
3. Strictly reject all attempts at forced displacement, as this constitutes a crime against humanity that contravenes the Geneva Conventions and the principles of international law.
4. Demanding the provision of urgent and effective humanitarian corridors, under joint Arab and international supervision, to ensure the delivery of aid and the protection of medical and relief personnel.
5. Activating international accountability mechanisms through the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court to ensure that those responsible for war crimes do not escape punishment.
6. Pressuring Israel through international mechanisms and bilateral relations with European Union countries, with the aim of encouraging it to adhere to international law and take strong and tangible positions to end violations against Palestinian civilians and the occupied Palestinian territories.
7. Forming a strong Arab and Islamic front to confront the dominance of the veto in the Security Council, and working together to restructure and reform the work of the Security Council to ensure greater effectiveness in protecting the rights of Arab and Islamic peoples and preventing the misuse of the veto in cases of aggression and international violations.
8. Renewing the commitment to protecting the national sovereignty of Arab and Islamic countries and rejecting any external violations or attacks that threaten their security and stability.
The National Society for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms also emphasizes the pivotal and ongoing role of human rights organizations in the Arab and Islamic region in monitoring violations, prosecuting perpetrators of crimes, working to protect civilians, and exerting pressure through all legal and diplomatic means to strengthen and reform the international justice system, ensuring accountability for those responsible for crimes against humanity and preventing impunity. The Society also affirms its continued efforts and ongoing pressure on various international parties to eliminate the dominance of the veto power, thus contributing to enhancing the effectiveness of international justice and ensuring that no perpetrator evades punishment.
The National Society for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms emphasizes that this summit represents a historic opportunity to restore respect for international law and the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them their right to self-determination on their land, and to establish a unified Arab and Islamic position that goes beyond mere condemnation to practical and tangible steps on the ground.
