Defending Egypt is defending justice and Palestinian rights.

The National Association for Defending Rights and Freedoms is following with deep concern and condemnation the systematic media campaign targeting the Egyptian state, which aims to undermine its historic and steadfast role in supporting the Palestinian cause. This campaign, led by suspicious entities and external parties linked to centers of influence hostile to Egypt, represents a grave violation of the rules of media justice and legal professionalism. It falsely holds the Egyptian state responsible for the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, in blatant disregard for the full legal responsibility of the occupying power under international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions. Attempts to distort the facts and divert anger from the occupation toward the Egyptian state are not only politically motivated, but also explicit complicity in the displacement project and the liquidation of basic Palestinian rights. Despite the grave challenges it faces, Egypt continues to bear unprecedented humanitarian, logistical, and political burdens in defense of the Palestinian people and in rejection of plans to empty Gaza or undermine Palestinian rights to their land.

The Association affirms that the continuation of these incitement campaigns contributes to undermining fair human rights discourse and transforms platforms for advocating for justice into politicized political pressure tools that do not serve humanitarian causes, but rather mislead public opinion and establish an unjust equation in which the victim is on an equal footing with the perpetrator. The Association affirms that the right of states to preserve their sovereignty, security, and stability does not contradict, but rather complements, their humanitarian obligations, and that targeting Egypt at this time directly serves the occupation’s agenda, paving the way for the legitimization of forced displacement, and the disregard of the Palestinian cause as a matter of liberation, justice, and dignity. In this context, the National Association for Defending Rights and Freedoms presents the following urgent human rights demands:

1. Call on the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to adopt a balanced and realistic position that holds the occupying power fully responsible for the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza and recognizes Egypt’s steadfast role in supporting Palestinian civilians.

2. Form an impartial fact-finding committee under international supervision to monitor grave violations in Gaza and ensure that human rights reports are based on facts, not political whims.

3. Demand that international human rights organizations respect the principles of independence and impartiality and avoid being drawn into politicized campaigns aimed at distorting regional roles based on supporting justice.

4. Support Egyptian initiatives to provide aid to the people of Gaza and reject attempts to cast doubt or politicize these initiatives, which undermine humanitarian work and undermine genuine solidarity.

5. Call on the media and digital platforms to adopt a responsible, professional approach that distinguishes between the Egyptian state’s national position and malicious incitement campaigns that manipulate public awareness.

6. Call on all actors in the regional and international human rights community to stand against the politicization of discourse. Humanitarian and rejecting the use of the suffering of the Palestinian people as a means of settling political scores.

7. Calling on the international community to reaffirm its commitment to ending the occupation and rejecting all practices that pave the way for forced displacement and the violation of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.

8. The Association calls on all public figures, institutions, unions, civil society organizations, media professionals, and all citizens to declare clear and responsible positions that reject any attack on the Egyptian state or undermine its steadfast role in supporting the Palestinian cause. The Association emphasizes that defending Egypt is an integral part of defending Arab rights, human values, and international justice.

The National Association affirms that standing with Egypt at this moment is a defense of truth and justice, and a fairness to its responsible role in the Palestinian cause. It calls on all citizens, including institutions, unions, parties, and citizens, to fully unite in confronting this organized attack that targets the state’s stability and distorts its regional and humanitarian role.
