Sanctions on Palestinian human rights organizations are an attempt to criminalize justice and legitimize ethnic cleansing against the indigenous population.

The National Society for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms expresses its categorical rejection and strong condemnation of the sanctions imposed on Palestinian human rights organizations. It emphasizes that these sanctions can only be understood within the framework of a comprehensive plan that the Israeli occupation seeks to implement in cooperation with the US administration. This plan aims to isolate the Gaza Strip, deprive the Palestinian people of the tools of peaceful defense, and liquidate their just cause through systematic ethnic cleansing targeting the indigenous population of the Palestinian land.
These sanctions represent a complex crime. They are not merely administrative or political restrictions, but are, in essence, an attempt to obscure the truth and silence human rights organizations that have, for decades, shouldered the responsibility of monitoring and documenting grave violations and war crimes and submitting them to United Nations bodies and international courts. Without these organizations, the world would not have known the details of the siege, bombing, mass killings, and the policy of forced displacement carried out against Palestinian civilians.
Palestinian human rights organizations have played a pivotal role in building legal cases against the occupation and in conveying the suffering of victims to the international community. Therefore, punishing or criminalizing them is a deliberate step to eliminate the last lines of protection available to Palestinians. In the face of the war machine, settlements, and the escalating forced displacement project, the occupation’s plans, in collusion with the US administration, cannot be separated from the broader context of the ongoing policy of ethnic cleansing for decades, starting with land confiscation, the imposition of a blockade, and systematic killing, through attempts to isolate Gaza politically and humanitarianally, and finally, the complete elimination of Palestinian civil society, in order to liquidate the Palestinian cause and deprive the people of their identity and historical rights. The Association affirms that these measures blatantly contravene international humanitarian law, particularly the Four Geneva Conventions, which impose an obligation to protect civilians under occupation. They also constitute a violation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and a direct violation of the UN Declaration on Human Rights Defenders and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, which recognize the right of Palestinians to self-determination and the preservation of their identity. International silence on these sanctions is not neutrality, but rather a de facto partnership in the ethnic cleansing project and complicity in an ongoing crime. The international community, which is supposed to protect human rights, is leaving Palestinian human rights organizations alone to confront the political, economic, and media targeting machine, which doubles the threat to the Palestinian people and weakens the entire international justice system. The Society demands the immediate and unconditional lifting of all sanctions imposed on Palestinian human rights organizations. Urgent intervention by the Human Rights Council and the United Nations General Assembly to provide genuine protection for human rights defenders in Palestine. Referring the targeting of Palestinian human rights organizations to the International Criminal Court as part of the ongoing crime of ethnic cleansing. Obligating the US administration and the countries supporting the occupation to end their direct complicity in policies targeting the Palestinian people and hold them accountable under international law. Providing urgent international political, financial, and legal support to these organizations so they can continue their mission of protecting victims and uncovering the truth. The National Society for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms affirms that the sanctions on Palestinian human rights organizations represent a blatant attack on justice and human rights, and that defending them is a defense of the entire international system. Allowing the criminalization of Palestinian human rights work means leaving the Palestinian people defenseless in the face of a project of slow genocide and systematic ethnic cleansing, which poses a direct threat to human values and international peace and security.
