The National Association for the Defense and its partners in the Middle East and North Africa launch their campaign “A society that protects women”
In conjunction with the launch of the 16-day campaign to combat violence against women
In the context of everyone’s efforts to provide a healthy environment that helps support and protect women around the world and put an end to the increasing violence in recent times and the clear abandonment of societies to protect women.. and in order to combat violence against women and seek a large collective action to combat violence against them.
The United Nations has launched its 16-day campaign, as is the case every year, representing the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which begins on November 25 and ends on December 10. The 2024 campaign, whose slogan is: Every 10 minutes, a woman is killed (#NoExcuse) draws attention to the alarming escalation of violence against women to revive commitments and call for accountability and action by decision-makers.
In the Middle East and North Africa, the issue of violence against women has become a phenomenon due to their exposure to continuous violence and electronic blackmail, which often leads to the victims ending their lives or even killing them for many reasons, including honor issues or cases of revenge killing, which increases the number of victims and has become a phenomenon that is spreading widely in the Middle East and North Africa. In the framework of the National Association for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms and the Middle East Foundation for Development and Human Rights’ efforts to work in partnership with friends in civil society in the Arab region of North Africa and the Middle East and for joint work on urgent issues to combat violence against women, we launched the 16-day campaign in conjunction with its launch in countries around the world. An agreement was reached with our partners representing the countries (Egypt – Lebanon – Iraq – Morocco – Tunisia – Jordan – Sudan – Yemen – Saudi Arabia – Bahrain – Palestine) under the name “A Society that Protects Women”, alongside the international campaign that is launched every year and which bears the name: Every 10 minutes, a woman is killed (#No_Excuse) The National Association for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms and its partners call on civil society organizations and all segments of local communities to protect women and help them combat violence and protect their lives in order to create safe societies. In the framework of implementing the campaign, it will issue a number of statements and film materials to raise awareness in communities to protect women and draw attention to the importance of placing the issue of combating violence against Women are a priority for decision-makers in the Middle East and North Africa.
