National Association for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms: Human Rights Statement on the Conclusion of Voting in the 19 Constituencies
The voting process in the nineteen constituencies concluded today after two days of extensive human rights and community monitoring. The National Association for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms monitored the electoral process from its commencement until the closing of the last polling station through field monitoring teams. These teams aimed to assess the environment surrounding the electoral experience and its consistency with applicable legal guarantees.
The voting atmosphere was characterized by discipline and relative calm. The performance of those overseeing the electoral process was notably high-quality in managing and facilitating procedures, ensuring that citizens could cast their votes without obstacles. The Association also observed a marked improvement in organizing voter flow at polling station entrances and the implementation of accessible mechanisms for the elderly and people with disabilities. Furthermore, there was acceptable adherence to the regulations for identity verification and voter registration, reflecting a good level of quality in administrative and technical procedures. The Association also noted a disciplined field presence of security forces around the polling stations, which contributed to providing a safe environment for voters and staff and prevented any attempts to disrupt order or Disruption of the Voting Process
Regarding electoral violations, the association observed several irregularities outside polling stations, most notably attempts to influence voters and late-stage campaigning in the vicinity of some polling centers. Security forces addressed many of these violations and took the necessary legal measures, which reinforces citizens’ confidence in the integrity of the legal framework governing the electoral process. As for voter turnout, initial indicators show varying participation rates across districts, but it remained within acceptable limits, with a relative increase in turnout during the final hours of the second day. This reflects the response of a segment of the population to official and community calls encouraging participation. The National Association for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms affirms that facilitating and improving procedures, along with addressing electoral violations, constitutes a key pillar in enhancing the integrity of elections and increasing confidence in their results. The association emphasizes the need to continue developing the organizational structure of the electoral process to ensure broader participation and more accurate representation of the popular will.
