The proposed death penalty for Palestinian prisoners is a crime against humanity and a blatant challenge to the international justice system
The National Association for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms announces its categorical rejection and strong condemnation of the reports in the Hebrew media regarding the intention of the Israeli Knesset’s National Security Committee to discuss and vote on a bill imposing the death penalty on Palestinian prisoners.
The Association believes that this proposal represents a new crime in the occupation’s dark record and an unprecedented decline in the human and political conduct of the Zionist entity. It is a blatant attempt to legitimize mass killing and ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the 1949 Geneva Conventions, particularly the Fourth Convention relating to the Protection of Prisoners of War.
The Association affirms that the occupying entity continues to reveal its ugly and criminal face throughout the years of the Arab-Israeli conflict, in practices reminiscent of Nazi atrocities and the barbarity of the Mongols. It embodies an aggressive and supremacist ideology that threatens international peace and undermines the existence of the United Nations and all its mechanisms. It has become clear that this entity no longer believes in any human or legal values, but rather acts as a chaotic force outside the framework of international legitimacy, persisting in killing and deliberately humiliating international law. The Eyes of the World
Based on its human rights and humanitarian responsibilities, the National Association for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms calls upon the international community to:
1. Isolate the State of Israel from all international bodies and suspend its membership in the United Nations, considering it a state that practices terrorism and commits systematic war crimes.
2. Cease all forms of cooperation or dealings with the occupying entity within the African Union and consider it an entity opposed to the African principles founded on freedom, equality, and respect for human dignity.
3. Impose a comprehensive economic and political isolation on the occupation by freezing trade and financial relations and banning arms exports to it until it complies with international law and its leaders are tried as war criminals.
4. Immediate action by the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to open an urgent investigation into the institutional incitement to mass killing of Palestinian prisoners, considering it a crime against humanity.
The Association emphasizes that Israel’s continued defiance of international legitimacy without restraint constitutes a serious threat to world peace and places the international community before a true test of its credibility and its ability to protect the law and human dignity.
The Association concludes its statement by affirming that Egypt and the countries of the world that believe in a just peace have been and remain sincerely striving to achieve it, but they are constantly confronted with crimes. The occupying entity, which undermines all opportunities for stability and destroys the foundations of justice and peace, continues its criminal policies. This confirms that the occupation does not want peace but rather seeks to entrench chaos, violence, and extremism in the region. This necessitates urgent international action to protect humanity and salvage what remains of the credibility of the international system.
The National Association for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms reiterates its commitment to defending the right to life, rejecting systematic genocide, and supporting the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle for freedom, dignity, and international justice.
