The journalist shereen abu Aqeel is anew victim in the series of Israeli occupation crimes agnist journalists
The National Assembly for the Defence of Rights and Freedom condemns in all condemnation the continued targeting of journalistby the Israeli occupying forces ,which continue to commit war crimes against unarmed civilians and journalists, which they commit and the blood of innocent people shed every day. According to reports from some Palestinian right organizations, 47th killings and martyrdom of a journalist have been observed since 2000, including but not limited to the murder of thirty –one-years old journalist Yasser Martji, who works as a journalist in an agency ‘Ain Media’ in Gaza .Ahmed Abu Hussein, a 25-years-old man who was shot in the chest and abdomen area after being deliberately and directly targeted by the occupation sinpers, was assassinated. He was about 200 meters away from the security fence and was mediating dozens of citizens in the place. He was also wearing the uniform(helmet and shield) for journalist . And 7 Palestinian journalists were also injured in the southern west bank city of Bethlehem, during the repression of the Israeli occupation, in solidarity with Palestinian photojournalist Ma’az Amarneh, who was shot last Friday by the occupation and lost his left eye.
Although we have tried to monitor the violations committed by the occupation over the past years, we cannot really count the number of such violations. Al Jazeera correspondent Shirin Abu Akil, fifty-one years old, was shot in the head, specifically behind the ear, despite wearing press uniforms and a protective helmet, which demonstrates prior determination and observation. Journalist Ali al-Samoudi was shot in the back and targeted during their coverage of the Israeli army’s invasion of Jenin city and camp.
A number of eyewitnesses confirmed that there was a deliberate targeting by Israeli occupying forces of journalists and media professionals despite the absence of any militants or civilians in the vicinity of the journalists’ presence, which was repeated many times in targeting many journalists previously.
The occupying forces deliberately target Palestinian journalists during their coverage of the occupation’s war crimes against Palestinian territories: the military deliberately and directly shoot at them in an attempt to prevent them from covering the violations of unarmed participants and peaceful demonstrators. Journalists are also targeted despite wearing a press uniform and shield written in Arabic and English. The National Assembly for the Defence of Rights and Freedoms affirms that Israel’s occupation is in contravention of international instruments, instruments and resolutions, which have always been wounded in flagrant defiance of international legitimacy. Ultimately, it is unarmed civilians who pay a heavy price for this inability to violate and bully the Zionist entity that commits its its its crimes and is always punishable. The National Assembly for the Defence of Human Rights and Freedoms therefore calls upon both the International Council for Human Rights, the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the High Commissioner for Human Rights to take the necessary steps and put in place strict mechanisms to protect journalists from brutal violations and to impose sanctions on the occupation, whose crimes are carried out without regard to the mandate of international standards, controls or agreements.
