The National Association for Defending Rights and Freedoms begins its first symposium entitled the comprehensive periodic review and the role of civil society
The National Association for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms has begun a series of seminars on the mechanism of the universal periodic review (UPR) within the International Council for Human Rights in Geneva, and this mechanism is the only one for assessing the human rights file for all member states within the United Nations.
Because of the National Society’s belief in the importance of reforming the Egyptian human rights file in light of what we received from the recommendations within the International Council for Human Rights in November 2019, which the Egyptian government dealt with, and its human rights file was approved with what Egypt committed to implementing and reforming the Egyptian human rights files.
Therefore, the National Society decided to hold a number of educational seminars within the governorates of Egypt targeting civil society organizations in order to emphasize the pivotal and important role of civil society organizations in Egypt. We have started the first UPR seminars from Luxor Governorate at the headquarters of the National Council for Women and 25 workers and interested people from society attended The Egyptian Civil Society, on the date of Friday, March 5, 2021, was attended by Professor Walid Farouk, President of the Society, Professor / Othman Ali, in charge of International Relations in the Society, and Professor / Amal al-Nubi, President of the Hope Society for Comprehensive Development, and the symposium lasted for hours
